Core Competencies

Core competencies are the “skills and capabilities that enable an organization to create a unique and sustainable set of benefits (value-creating activities) for its project participants.”  Furthermore, "Core competencies come from the sum of an organization's accumulated intellectual capital, technologies, experience, skills and management process." (DPMI+, Module 3, J-Term 2012).

This diagram was developed to provide an opportunity for OGRA staff and I better understand the organization and its competencies.  As you can see in the diagram, OGRA Foundation is a complex health and education-based non-government organization (NGO) whose ultimate goal is to reduce poverty and develop Kisumu, Kenya.

OGRA is a relatively young, quickly growing, and is in the process of clearly defining itself.  The organization will soon completed its 2007-2012 Strategic Plan, has recently structured its programs within 4 project pillars.  In the next 6-12 months OGRA will be developing its next strategic plan and shedding programs that do not align with its vision.
