Case Study: A Holistic Analysis of OGRA Foundation

Picture
OGRA Foundation's 5 Pillars
Over the course of 6 months, in partnership with OGRA Foundation's staff and partners, I evaluated OGRA Foundation's 2007-2012 Strategic Plan, and then developed OGRA Foundation's 2012-2017 Strategic Plan.

The OGRA Foundation Case Study is a culmination of that work, with the purpose of identifying gaps and providing recommendations to strengthen positive development outcomes for Western Kenya.

OGRA Foundation programmes are based on 5 Pillars:
  1. Disease Prevention and Control
  2. Maternal and Child Health
  3. Health Systems Strengthening
  4. Community Empowerment
  5. Emergency Preparedness and Response

Meeting with staff, visiting programme and project sites, and researching current practices and best practices, we identified the following opportunities for growth:
  • Mission Alignment
  • Training Expansion
  • Demographic Expansion
  • Local and Federal Government Partnership
  • Government Employee Strengthening

We aligned OGRA's Strategic Plan with local, national and international standards including but not limited to:
  • Government of Kenya line ministries
  • United Nation Millennium Development Goals
  • World Health Organization goals

Through aligning OGRA's mission, programmes and projects with local, national and international standards,  OGRA is strategically placed to become the lead organization in Western Kenya within the next five to ten years.
